Author notes: I actually wasn’t going to post this chapter, as this was on that was completely dropped and removed in the final version. I just didn’t like it, and that character introduced was scrapped. I am still adding it though, as it was technically a part of the free version, and it messes up my easy chapter numbering otherwise. You will notice it is very short, but do feel free to ignore this chapter and go to the next one.

It had only been several days, but the news of Senna had become the talk of the school.
Whilst supernatural creatures were common knowledge and no longer limited to hearsay and folklore, they were still a rarity compared to the enormous population of humanity.
This was showcased in Laurence Academy of the Gifted by there being only a handful of supernatural creatures amongst the school. Some were met with scorn or aversion, but all were well known and the frequent topic of discussion.
The gorgon, Helena, was a prime case of this. Whilst there were those who were disgusted that she was a creature known to eat humans, there was nobody in the school who didn’t know who she was.
Many students openly discussed the fae girl, often speculating on what species she was. One of the things that was most commented on and a constant topic of passion, was her beauty.
Senna had separated herself from Helena, but found that she didn’t know how to approach any humans without her. She sat by herself on a bench slowly eating a parfait with a teaspoon, watching all the other students pass by out of the corner of her eye.
She wanted to investigate the missing student, Adrian Nikolic, but was lacking the social skills to make friends with others, let alone humans which she was especially prejudiced against.
At this moment, a boy her age, or at least her apparent age, approached her with his chin held high and desire glossing his eyes.
He was in excellent shape, his hair well kept and not a blemish on his skin. He wore glasses, but this only added to his appeal. If one looked closely, they would see that there were miniature magic arrays inscribed into the frame of his glasses too.
His uniform was of the highest quality, but he also wore accessories of the highest quality. He wore several rings that not only were made of refined mana cores rarely found in mutated monsters, the most expensive kind of item costing millions of credits for just the cheapest one.
His belt was made from mana enriched Iridium, something that couldn’t be bought by just having credits. Senna also detected other manufactured items hidden on his body, making her wonder just how much all of it would have cost.
The demi-fallen fae guessed that it was an astronomical amount that someone like her could never afford.
Whilst all these items were beneficial to someone as a mage, assisting mana absorption or enhancing cast spells, he was someone who was deeply affectionate of his possessions and appearance. Even the other student following him around almost subserviently was well equipped with expensive items, although not as much as the former.
“Senna Smith, I am Adam Grayson. My father is William Grayson, who will soon inherit the head position of our Grayson mage heritage.”
Senna gave him a chilly look as she already didn’t like him. She immediately wanted to beat him up and walk away, but remembered how Thomas told her to make friends with humans, that it was the purpose of her attending school, and stilled her hands.
In her previous school, Senna was almost notorious for her ruthless rejection towards those who tried to approach or confess to her, as well as her violent tendencies.
Despite that school being only a couple suburbs away, this was a school of the wealthy elite and the gifted, whilst the former was a commonplace public school. There was no common ground or interactions between the students of the school.
If there were, perhaps Adam Grayson wouldn’t have approached her in the manner he did.
“What do you want, Adam Grayson?” Barely disguising her disgust, she responded whilst staring at him with her crimson pupils.
This was the limit of Senna’s politeness to him.
Unperturbed, he sat beside her uncomfortably close and continued, “There is an auction on Sunday at the Highpont Gallery, an invitation only event. Only those who are somebody will be invited, and I just happen to be somebody.”
“Congratulations on being somebody.”
Adam stared at her in displeasure due to her tone, but still pursued in his goal. His friend also glanced at her from the corner of his eye before returning to glaring at anyone who looked too long in their direction.
“I will buy you anything you want. The finest clothes, jewelry, wands, and things money can’t buy. In return, you will be my woman.”
Adam reached his arm around and wrapped it around Senna’s shoulder. At least, he tried to, but moments before his hand touched her shoulder, she vanished from her spot and was standing two steps away.
He was clearly surprised as his eyes widened.
“You have some capability. That only makes me want you more.”
“But you do not, nor do I want you.”
Adam didn’t know it, but the only reason he had a whole arm currently was that despite the desire filling his gaze, Senna didn’t smell a hint of lust from him.
She didn’t know what he was up to, nor did she care.
Adam came from a family of American mages dating back to the early 1900s, not long after the rediscovery of magic. His ancestor had originally been one of the pillars of the Mage Tower before eventually leaving and moving to the far west.
His family was heavily involved in the research and development of what has become modern magic, and they were incredibly wealthy as a result. They didn’t just have an abundance of credits, buts the Grayson private library was an extremely coveted resource.
Rumor has it that this library contained books on magic dating back to the dark ages.
Growing up in such an environment, Adam was never deprived of anything, and would get anything he asked for.
“I will have you, one way or another.”
Senna ignored the subtle threat in his words and simply walked away. She had to make some friends, but Adam Grayson was not one of them.
