End Online: Chapter 37

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis,
Author’s notes: The chapter you have been waiting for? Well, it’s juicy, it’s fresh, and it’s here now.
The chapter plan for this chapter is available for everyone on my Patreon page. It is possibly the greatest one yet… maybe… but it definitely has the best illustration to date from Cr@ppy Artworks Inc.
As with the new chapter, please to take a moment of your time and show your support by following the link to vote for End Online at TopWebFiction. Remember, your vote will only last a week, but I will only ask you to do so with each full chapter release. More motivation for me to write faster!

Chapter 37 – Ruminu Forgotten Temple

– Lost –

After Matrix interrupts Fen and me, the camp is incredibly awkward. The entire site is silent, and not-so-subtle glances are constantly sent my way. Fen stands next to me as I practice my ‘Potion Production’, eyeing the concoctions nervously.

‘Don’t worry Fen, I won’t feed these to you. Those other people though, I might,’ I sinisterly muse to myself.

Once the morning cleanup is finished, I challenge everyone’s glances before saying, “Nothing happened! Now, let’s keep going into this forest.”

Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 10

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis,
Author’s notes: Shortest chapter so far. This was a decision I made to cut the end of it and place it in the next chapter. But at least this chapter is a solution to that greedy cliffhanger I left you with last time. This one has a little more closure.
I am currently writing Chapter 14 of CotE, which will be the final chapter released here for free. At least it will be until Volume 1 is published, in which the initial plan to release the remainder at a speed of one or two a week will be implemented.
There is no chapter plan for this chapter on my Patreon. I am currently only doing the chapter plan for End Online chapters there as I am trying to maintain an average of writing ~2000 words/day(apart from the days I vanish into the void called the internet). I originally hadn’t planned on mentioning this, but I post other things for those who support me by donating $1 or more a month. Everyone who supports me there… already knows this ^.^
Changes made to previous chapters:
~ Removed weapons having their own skill trees.
~ Alchemy and Martial skills usually have 3 – 4 skill paths, Crafting and Miscellaneous usually have 1 – 2 skill paths.
~ Made Piora in chapter 8 a person that the students admire from afar but don’t get close to her. (Consistency for a later chapter)
~ Skills in character info are now arranged alphabetical and not in order of aquired.

Chapter 10 – Fatherly Advice

Within the Temple of Life, Regal continues to bask in the golden radiance of the light within the chapel while calming his inner thoughts. Eventually, he wanders out the entrance with glazed eyes, as if he is lost in the world.

For the first time in his life, Regal looks up at the bluesteel ceiling of Theore first floor, three thousand feet above him, and thinks to himself, ‘The sky is so high. I wonder what the true sky outside this city is like, and how high it is. Is it twice as high as this? Ten times as high? A hundred? Such a thing is unfathomable.’

Lost in his curiosity and self-reflection, he wanders through the streets aimlessly. Eventually, he enters Market Street and his questioning of who he really is comes to an end.

News Update

I thought to update you all on several new things, and as it isn’t just a minor piece of news or two, I created its own post to grab your attention.

Part 1:

First of all, I am incredibly excited to announce the page views. I have been waiting patiently for the past month for this blog to reach a million views. I’m not some super conglomerate website, like wuxiaworld – that has recently, very recently, updated the fact that they have now reached 500 million page views, or other massively popular fan translation sites. But to someone like me, a million views is an incredibly big deal to me.

Considering I started End Online as a hobby during unemployment, without the slightest intention or idea I would make it my full time career, a million views back them was smoke and mirrors within a dream.

Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 9

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis,
Author’s notes: And that is all for this effort. More chapter(s) coming in about a week/or a little more.
Longest chapter of the release bananza. Also, updating on the status of CotE and releases. As I mentioned a while ago, I will stop releasing these chapters at some point and wait before posting the rest, at a speed of 1 chapter/week, mayber 2. I plan to start withholding chapters once Volume 1 becomes 50% complete. So far, it is guesstimated to be about 25 – 30%, so there will still be a few chapters, I’m just reminding you all ahead of time.
There is no chapter plan for this chapter on my Patreon at the moment. There will be a single release on what changed between planned and written for all chapters posted today later. Editing, sleeping, and writing to do first.

Chapter 9 – Rebirth

Following the fight with the first mutant rat, the four member squad is guided by Veronica away from the corpse in case the gunfire attracts multiple monsters, or other squads. Shortly after disappearing into the white mist, another squad emerges from the other side of the path.

This squad is comprised of six students from Class 4, the same class as Regal and the others. The squad captain is Frederick Dennen, a person Regal had defeated in a duel previously and whom also holds a strong dislike toward the Soulless. Frederick is the type of person that likes to bully others, often targeting Regal and the other three Soulless. They outsmart and escape Frederick too often though, coming across a teacher, or disappearing from sight, with seemingly uncanny timing.

The sound of Veronica’s squad’s footsteps can still be heard in the distance, but the echoing makes it difficult to discern how far and in what exact direction.

Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 8

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis,
Author’s notes: Just when you thought it was over, a longer chapter of CotE and even MOAR coming.
Updates in header of chapter 5. Also, updated how the skills are displayed in the player status. Chapter 1 has also been updated, but it is only a visual update. As this is litRPG, consider it a graphics patch!

Chapter 8 – Theore Substructure

Regal’s days at school pass by with a repetition of study and duels. Gradually, the students who were afraid of the pain of being shot or struck by alchemy during duals become more desensitised to it. Their hearts harden and they stop flinching when struck, but a few tears still fall when someone is hit with a critical or a surprising blow that goes beyond what each has already experienced.

The classes have fallen into a consistent pattern after the initial excitement of beginning school. Everyone has finished forming their circles of friends, with a few stragglers not associating with others. The entire student body, however, seems to be split into two factions. Those who think Piora is stronger, and those who favor Hazel. Perhaps the teachers organized it deliberately, but the two queens of the school have not dueled each other once.

Outside of school and interacting with his three Soulless friends, Regal doesn’t waste any time either. With the influx of money from helping Veronica practice her skills, his finances are no longer decreasing but slowly increasing instead. Regal still continues to sell cases of ‘Ice Bullets’ to Aqua at Atelier Gun & Bullet, sometimes even staying at the shop after the transaction because Aqua asks him to stay so she can talk to him.

Chapter 7 – Payment

A strange scene can be seen on the first floor of Grand City Theore. Veronica, her amber hair in more disarray than usual, dragging Regal by the arm all the way from Market Street to the public Training Hall.  Regal doesn’t fight her grip, allowing this to happen for the entire journey.

After arriving at the Training Hall, Veronica turns back toward Regal with a displeased expression and blandly says, “I can’t believe you forgot in such a short time!”

“I’m sorry big sis. I had just found a way to make money and was planning to go home and continue. I didn’t mean to forget.”

Chapter 6 – Profit

Once the guard captain leaves, Regal studiously begins to clean up. The smaller items are easy to tidy, but consume a lot of time, while the large furniture forces him to use his entire body weight to just upright them. If he was a few levels higher and put some points into his strength, this task would be much easier.

In his mind, Regal is going through various methods to earn money. Most of them are not possible for someone who hasn’t graduated school or won’t make a profit so he immediately disregards those. Without being allowed to work, his most viable option is to sell goods.

If his father’s books were still here, they would be worth at least several silver pieces each. After going through the list of things he could possibly sell, he decides to sell his ‘Ice Bullets’. They are low grade bullets that aren’t worth much, but it is still possible to sell them.

Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 5

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis,
Author’s notes: There is more CotE coming.
Changes:
– Chapter length from her onwards will vary between 2,000 and 4,000 words. (so far they have all been about 4,000 words)
– Size/distance measurements have been changed from yards to feet. Except gun and alchemy range. Some internet searches showed me that bullet range is usually measured in yards. I consider alchemy skill to be the same range measurement and bullet range.
– Size of Grand City Theore changed. Was 30 miles wide, and 47 floors tall at 100 yards each. Big proportionate change to 20 miles wide, and 47 floors tall at 3,000 feet each. These proportions fits in my imagination better for the city/tower that seems to pierce the heavens.
– A party of players is no longer called a “party”. This has been changed to “squad”, which suits my gun, steam and alchemy theme better.
There is no chapter plan for this chapter on my Patreon at the moment. There will be a single release on what changed between planned and written for all chapters posted today later. Editing, sleeping, and writing to do first.

Chapter 5 – Theft

Without school to attend or any other duties, Regal spends the entire weekend practicing his alchemy and martial skills at the Training Hall. The communal training center is much busier during the weekend as other students from Regal’s, and other nearby schools also stop by to practice from time to time. Many of them seeRegal, but no one knows who he is and none  take the initiative to approach him.

In his solitude, Regal diligently creates ‘Ice Bullets’, casts ‘Stone Skin’ thenstarts to practice his marksmanship and knife skills. He even begins to get used to using ‘Curve’, managing to hit the target two times out of ten while standing sixty feet away.

His comprehension of his skills takes its first step forward during this time. It appears in the corner of his mind, in the form of a small spark that could vanish at any moment. Despite finally starting to comprehend the two skills, his speed of understanding is only half that of the other students who lack talent in these alchemical skills.

End Online: Chapter 36

Editors: genericIntent, Templar, Jack Vanatis, Johnist, Scott
Author’s notes: The first chapter of Volume 6! All the editors pitched in for this chapter, which was a nice surprise. Chapter 37 hasn’t been written yet. But writing will start in 2 days, and hopefully be done within 5 or 6 days from now.
There is no chapter plan for this chapter on my Patreon as this chapter and chapter 37 are a part of the same plan. To avoid spoilers, it will be released with the next chapter.
As this is a full chapter release. It is greatly appreciated if you can show your support to take a minute of your time to follow the link and vote for End Online at TopWebFiction.com! Votes are reset weekly so even if you have voted before, please do so again! ^.^

Chapter 36: Kano City

-Lost-

Grey mist completely surrounds me upon entering the teleportation circle in Grael’s Lair. It gradually begins to clear, revealing a bustling square within a city of timber and stone houses no more than two or three stories tall. The sounds of players bartering and forming parties fill the air, along with what seems to be several flocks of birds cawing in the distance.

I’m surrounded by other players and NPCs; most of them have perky cat ears atop their heads and tails that sway as they walk. The remaining players are mainly humans, but I occasionally see a few other races.

‘There are some differences in the cat traits among players,’ I muse to myself, staring at the different colored and shaped ears and tails. ‘I never got an option to customize my looks upon becoming an ‘Eternal Draconian’, could it just be random?’ Continue reading →
