Chapter 2 – Lightning Striking Twice

Author notes: Hello all, enjoy the next chapter of this new book. I am going to be releasing twice per week over the next 5 – 10 weeks, and will review whether to maintain that, or drop releases to 1/week after that (to keep the flow of chapters while I am working on End Online + studies).
Also, please vote for this work on topwebfiction to help boost it! Any family, friends or pets that you think may be interested in it, please share and recommend.

Not long after the first client came, the bell on the door rang once again, indicating someone had entered.

Senna straightened her clothes and quickly entered the reception room, Thomas following behind her not long after.

Thomas was surprised as one client was already rare, but two on the same day was simply unheard of. Normally, there would only be one person walking in a week, whilst three out of four would back out as soon as they heard the price of his service.

Chapter 1 – Thomas’ Private Investigator Office for the Supernatural and Mundane

Thomas sat behind a large wooden desk, his chair half reclined and his feet on the table. The afternoon sun streamed in from between the slats of the old aluminum venetian blinds.

His crusade was long over and he had settled down in Rushford, Pennsylvania, starting his own business called Thomas’ Private Investigator Office for the Supernatural and Mundane, a bland and unimaginative name that cluttered the front door.

His business was on the second floor above the main shops outside, a narrow staircase between two stores leading up to it. Clients could simply walk in, but his shop was quite hidden so most people never even knew it was there.

Prologue IV – Time

Ten years had passed since Thomas appeared in the world of the living. He waged countless battles against the church’s forces and the believers of other gods who intervened in his crusade for justice. He learned to use his vessel in battle without destroying it, especially as every piece of strength spent made it harder to resist the pull of the afterlife.

His image struck terror in the church and many other forces, spending a long time as a wanted man inside all these forces. In order to protect the public though, his face and details were never revealed to them.

Throughout the entire journey, the half fallen fae, named Senna by Thomas, remained by his side. Her attachment to him based solely off her desire for her own survival in a world that hunted her kind.

Prologue III – Rejection

Thomas was confined within his vessel, and as such was oblivious to the people who appeared where he re-entered the world from.

At the same time, the cultivators, heroes and all the onlookers failed to detect him walking across the ocean. It was almost uncanny, their senses and spiritual arts either just missing him, or bumping into one other and forming a gap between them that just happened to be were he was at the time.

It was almost as if there was a mysterious and extremely powerful force guiding fate itself to prevent him from being found, as well as him detecting them in return.

Prologue II – Return

June 4th, 2147.

A low orbital gravity lens satellite was the first to detect it, shortly followed by the gods and supernatural beings who had long transcended the mortal form.

Pitch black storm clouds rumbled with constant thunder overhead the North Pacific Ocean, whilst cataclysmic waves roiled back and forth on the ocean surface below.

It couldn’t be seen with the human eye nor properly analyzed by current human technology, but all the energies of the world were in complete chaos here. For those able to see souls, they would have seen the fingers of a giant hand pierce out of the sky before gradually tearing the void open.

Prologue I – Departure

June 4th, 1312.

The cries of Thomas Smith rang from the North Papal States as he was born into this world.

His father was a local blacksmith, his mother a cast out bastard between the old duke and one of the servants. Despite the inheritance of the old duke’s blood, he would never be able to lay claim to it else he risk the gallows.

His father’s hands were still covered in soot and grime as he held his newborn son up. Unfortunately, his mother continued to bleed and there was nothing the midwife could do to save her, leaving Aaron Smith to raise the child all on his own.

New Novel + Update

So, this is half of a generic update following my last “I’m back” announcement.

Let’s start with the most interesting news to you all, and for those who want the tl;dr. The novel I have been working on over the past year, or at least the initial version, have had several chapters posted of on my Patreon. I have posted the prologue, which consists of four parts, as well as the first chapter.

The name of the novel (tentative) is… Fae of Rancor! (Edit: This was changed back to Immortal Templar)

Then, Now, and Tomorrow

I think this is my seventh attempt at choosing an opening paragraph. It is hard to believe 4 years have passed, during which I have taken a long break. So much has happened over that time period I doubt I could write it all in one post. I will save other information for later posts, and instead focus this one on the aspect of writing.

I truly hope that everyone has been well during these years. We have all had countless ups and downs, whether personal, covid, or other.

Let me start with the ‘Then’ of this post.

TL;DR – I never gave up, but I lost my mojo.

I can’t recall all the explicit details, but back in 2018, I had moved house with my brother so he could have custody share of all his kids. I like the kids, but six of them were compiling my stress levels. I have nothing but respect for my brother who can manage that many all at once.

D has been sick + Update

Well many of you have been wondering where this Immortal D is, well he has been incredibly sick over the past month or so. As some may recall or will now know, I have my nieces and nephews stay with me over the weekends. Well, it is apparently germ season at those infestation breeding grounds we call school and kindergarten.

First these kids brought back their germs and gave me a cold. Pretty minor, I usually spend my time hugging a tissue box and sleeping off the minor headaches. Just as I got better and was about to get stuck back into writing, the little bastards came back and gave me the flu. Many people thinks the flu and the cold are the same, but they are not. The flu is worse. The headaches are much worse, and snot travels back into my throat rather than just down my face.

I finally got better from this but apparently these kids weren’t happy with getting me two for two, but they managed to score a trifecta, and a home run at that. They were still most likely spreading their diseases and whilst I’d already built an immunity to this years cold and flu, the extra germs finally pushed my lymph nodes past the point of which they can hand and it became a serious bacterial infection.

It is the worst of the worst. The first night I came down with it, I had a migraine powerful enough I honestly felt like I was dying. I wanted to call an ambulance but how lucky for me my phone is broken. I lay there for the entire torturous night not being able to ask for help. The lymph nodes at the back of my neck are completely swollen and covered in pus, so I can barely swallow. I have no appetite and have been alternating between having hot flushes and the chillls. I still can’t sleep without waking up shortly afterwards completely covered in sweat. I did manage to stomach some Thai food for dinner the other night but that was completely thrown up and all my efforts went to waste. I’m now practically living off antibiotics or whatever they are, panadol (headache medicine), throat lozenges and gargling aspirin.

On the note of where I am with my stories, it’s all on hold at the moment, I can barely focus on writing this out and my headache is getting worse. There are emails from some of you and comments which I will try get to tonight after I’ve rested.

Eternal Anime War is currently up to chapter 30, I’d been releasing them in patreon first and was planning a mass release here before I fell ill. I’ll do this once I am better. As for End Online, I’m still struggling to read through my old work to catch up to where I was. You guys seriously underestimate how much I hate reading over my old work
