Chapter 27 – Fragment of Something Greater

Editors: genericIntent, Scott, ShieldBasher
Author’s notes: This chapter ended up being a lot longer than I had thought it was. But it is only extra reading materials for all of you! Volume 5 planning is going slow, I suspect the rough planning of the next volume will take another 3 or 4 days, then I can work on planning chapter 28! I will keep you updated anyway. Now, for the conclusion of volume 4!
As another full chapter release. It is greatly appreciated if you can show your support to take a minute of your time to follow the link and vote for End Online at TopWebFiction.com! Votes are reset weekly so even if you have voted before, please do so again! ^.^
You can now view the original plan for chapter 26 & 27 on my Patreon page along with my explanations of the plan and thoughts. It is free for all to have a look! I will also post this in the header of the next chapter for all who missed it.

Chronix and goon number one glare at me from the other end of the duelling stage. They make hand signs toward me to express how ‘dead’ I am while the countdown for the duel commencement ticks away. In the ten seconds of the countdown, they take their time to prolong their intimidating tactics.

The countdown hits zero, and Fen is the first to take action by sending a dozen ice spears screaming through the air toward them. Chronix and goon number one split apart, dodging Fen’s attack and moving to our flanks. Goon number one mumbles something under his breath that I can’t hear, and Chronix nods his head in response.

‘Of course, that guy has some supersonic hearing skill.’

Chapter 26 – Royal Summer Tournament

Editors: genericIntent, Scott
Author’s notes: Technically one more chapter to go! But it is a short one, and nearly half written already. I got a little distracted over the weekend, and even ended up coming into work Monday(yesterday) after having absolutely no sleep the night before! Anyway, I am back on track this week and I have a lot of guilt built up from not writing over the weekend so we are looking to have pretty productive week!
For all who are here to leave aggravated comments about cliffhangers, please find the comment section at the bottom of the page to express your thoughts. ^.^

I take Fen and the rest of the party and leave the quartermaster behind. The tournament is in three real life days, or nine short, eight hour days in the game. Until then, I need to do my best to train against fighting other players. Additionally, my new weapons will get stronger as my religious ‘Belief’ grows. To raise my ‘Belief’ stat, I will have kill other players with my ‘Minor Dire Flame’, which can only be done without consequence in one place: the Battle Colosseum.

Mysteriously, Fen decides to leave and do her own preparations as I enter the colosseum to battle other players, relying on my sole spell to finish most of the battles. I continue this for nearly two days, until it’s time for the weekly call from my sisters.

Chapter 25 – Ambush

Editors: genericIntent, Vincent, Scott
Author’s notes: Only one more chapter (And also writing short chapter 22.5) and we have finished volume 4! Once again, this will probably be the longest volume yet. I have a few other pages here to update later today, and also make a start on chapter 26! I have also updated chapter 25 with all the final edits.
As another full chapter release. It is greatly appreciated if you can show your support to take a minute of your time to follow the link and vote for End Online at TopWebFiction.com! Votes are reset weekly so even if you have voted before, please do so again! ^.^

I eat a large bunch of medicinal herbs, switching from the higher quality herbs to the lower quality ones. At least this way my health will continue to slowly increase once the match begins.

A large-busted female player walks up to the ring, wielding a small round buckler and a rather long kris that emits an eerie purple glow. Long brown hair flows down and her tight heavy-orc leather cuirass hardly does anything to hide the curves of her body. She has an hourglass figure which constantly attracts my eyes and makes it hard to concentrate on the fight. I take note of the red-stained cuirass which has a plain white gladiator’s insignia on it.

‘Either she is weak, or new to the arena like me.’

Chapter 24 – Gladiator of the Colosseum!

Editors: genericIntent, Vincent, Scott
Author’s notes: I didn’t expect this to get edited so quick! Seriously, another day or two at least. Hopefully the next chapter will still be out within a week, but we will have to see! Be sure to thank our fantastic editors for all the hard work they put into this writing. They bring a bludgeon to it and really make it take shape! ^.^ Two chapters of volume 4 left too by the way, it’s going to be longer than usual.

-Fen-

After walking for most of the day, Lost and I leave the city through the north gate. The evening sun causes the shadows of large hills to blanket the area around us by the time we finally leave the expanse outside Swordbreak.

Unclear about where we should be heading, we move in a generally northern direction. The whole time we keep an eye on the surroundings for the area that the man at the gate had described. Progress would have been much faster if we knew exactly where we needed to be, but the directions we received were simply too vague.

Just before the sun sets, a group of people approach us. There are six in total, walking with their backs slumped and their thumbs tucked into their belts. They smell of dirt and filth and don’t seem particularly interesting to me.

Chapter 23 – Swordbreak

Editors: genericIntent, shieldbasher, Vincent, Scott
Author’s notes: There is some news from my and the editors. genericIntent, our editor in chief, is going on holidays for two weeks. I have taken it upon myself to start working like crazy from today onward in an attempt to welcome him back with an excessive amount of paperwork on his desk and a pack of multi-coloured highlighters ^.^ Seriously though, we hope he has a good trip and enjoys himself! Also, that much needed chapter 22 edit on a couple of points is coming in about 12 hours, sleep must come first!

“Ouch!”

I hazily wake up to a cry of pain as the early morning sunlight begins filtering in through the window. My mind is still a little sluggish from just waking up, so it takes a moment to comprehend whose voice it is. After a few seconds, I realize it belongs to Matrix.

“Brother? What happened?” Mason asks, seemingly as confused as I am.

“I was just stretching when my arm touched Fen, and she stabbed me!”

Chapter 22 – No Caller ID

Editors: genericIntent, Vincent, Shieldbasher, Scott
Author’s notes: It is a good start to the weekend; Chapter 22 is done and I have already started writing 23! You can look forward to chapter 23 as I have planned a lot to happen, with some much needed attention to Fen. What attention you may ask? Wait and find out! Wahaha! I will also start doing a second slice of life story here on my blog. It is a unique concept I came up with and it will not slow down progress with End Online. I will make a post on the information about it later! For now, enjoy the latest chapter! ^.^

Removing the V-Link, I open my eyes to see the ceiling of my bedroom. My mind is still in a dream-like state as I roll my head to the side and read the time; 9:14 P.M. according to my bedside clock. I stare motionlessly for a while, watching the glow-in-the-dark second hand slowly wind around the clock-face.

One minute turns into the next, and then into the following; blurring into one long, thoughtless haze. Before I realize it, half an hour has passed. The room is pitch black, but like so many times before, I methodically drag myself across the bed and into my wheelchair.

I wheel myself to the bathroom while slowly shaking my head back and forth, but fail to clear the woozy feeling in my head. I make sure to flick the lights on as I go, squinting more with each new flick of a switch.

Chapter 21 – Dalbe, Kingdom of Summer

Editors: genericIntent, Vincent.
Author’s notes: We have finally done the editing. To much of your frustrations over the past weekend here is your next chapter and cliffhanger ^.^ Well, maybe it isn’t a cliffhanger, you will never know until you read it! Unfortunately, no writing took place over this weekend due to a simple reason. I was binge reading- *Cough* I mean, conducting in the field research on writing techniques and clever descriptions.

As soon as the draft of wind entering from outside stops, I turn my head to see the entrance door is closed. To my dismay, the door also lacks a handle. Fully realizing this is a life or death battle, I dedicate every ounce of concentration I have to the boss in front of me.

The boss, ‘Quicksilver Warlord’, is patiently waiting. It has two hands gripped on the upper section of the massive battle axe’s handle just below the axehead.

Chapter 20 – Reunited

Editors: genericIntent, Shieldbasher, Vincent, Scott
Author’s notes: *cough* This is a little awkward *cough*. Sorry for being late everyone. Not only has there has been a lot going on but I allowed myself to get distracted far too easily the past few weeks. I have a lot of back log in writing to do to make it up to you all so I will be giving my 100% over the next two weeks. I will add a little bit about my distractions in the next part of the ‘About Me’ page later tonight. But for now, what you have all been waiting for! The fully edited version of chapter 18 will be up tonight as well! In case any of you are interested.
Also, as a full chapter release. It is greatly appreciated if you could take a minute of your time to follow the link and vote for End Online at TopWebFiction.com!
Editor’s notes:…     (Still nothing from these guys! Maybe it is stage fright!)

-Lost-

The wedding ceremony and reception carries on throughout the night, only ending at first light. Without logging off or sleeping in the game, I start to feel fatigue weighing me down. I decide to ignore it and just get some rest later.

Under the rising sun, all the elves emerge from the bramble houses and begin their daily routine. Countless elves are gently chanting to some of the damaged houses with voices that seem to interact with nature itself. As they place their hands on the natural structures, the walls come alive and regenerate any damage sustained due to lack of supervision. The entire city begins to repair itself before my eyes. With all the elves’ melodic voices in the background fueling the change, even I can’t help but feel my heartbeat climb.
