Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 9

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis,
Author’s notes: And that is all for this effort. More chapter(s) coming in about a week/or a little more.
Longest chapter of the release bananza. Also, updating on the status of CotE and releases. As I mentioned a while ago, I will stop releasing these chapters at some point and wait before posting the rest, at a speed of 1 chapter/week, mayber 2. I plan to start withholding chapters once Volume 1 becomes 50% complete. So far, it is guesstimated to be about 25 – 30%, so there will still be a few chapters, I’m just reminding you all ahead of time.
There is no chapter plan for this chapter on my Patreon at the moment. There will be a single release on what changed between planned and written for all chapters posted today later. Editing, sleeping, and writing to do first.

Chapter 9 – Rebirth

Following the fight with the first mutant rat, the four member squad is guided by Veronica away from the corpse in case the gunfire attracts multiple monsters, or other squads. Shortly after disappearing into the white mist, another squad emerges from the other side of the path.

This squad is comprised of six students from Class 4, the same class as Regal and the others. The squad captain is Frederick Dennen, a person Regal had defeated in a duel previously and whom also holds a strong dislike toward the Soulless. Frederick is the type of person that likes to bully others, often targeting Regal and the other three Soulless. They outsmart and escape Frederick too often though, coming across a teacher, or disappearing from sight, with seemingly uncanny timing.

The sound of Veronica’s squad’s footsteps can still be heard in the distance, but the echoing makes it difficult to discern how far and in what exact direction.

Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 8

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis,
Author’s notes: Just when you thought it was over, a longer chapter of CotE and even MOAR coming.
Updates in header of chapter 5. Also, updated how the skills are displayed in the player status. Chapter 1 has also been updated, but it is only a visual update. As this is litRPG, consider it a graphics patch!

Chapter 8 – Theore Substructure

Regal’s days at school pass by with a repetition of study and duels. Gradually, the students who were afraid of the pain of being shot or struck by alchemy during duals become more desensitised to it. Their hearts harden and they stop flinching when struck, but a few tears still fall when someone is hit with a critical or a surprising blow that goes beyond what each has already experienced.

The classes have fallen into a consistent pattern after the initial excitement of beginning school. Everyone has finished forming their circles of friends, with a few stragglers not associating with others. The entire student body, however, seems to be split into two factions. Those who think Piora is stronger, and those who favor Hazel. Perhaps the teachers organized it deliberately, but the two queens of the school have not dueled each other once.

Outside of school and interacting with his three Soulless friends, Regal doesn’t waste any time either. With the influx of money from helping Veronica practice her skills, his finances are no longer decreasing but slowly increasing instead. Regal still continues to sell cases of ‘Ice Bullets’ to Aqua at Atelier Gun & Bullet, sometimes even staying at the shop after the transaction because Aqua asks him to stay so she can talk to him.

Chapter 7 – Payment

A strange scene can be seen on the first floor of Grand City Theore. Veronica, her amber hair in more disarray than usual, dragging Regal by the arm all the way from Market Street to the public Training Hall.  Regal doesn’t fight her grip, allowing this to happen for the entire journey.

After arriving at the Training Hall, Veronica turns back toward Regal with a displeased expression and blandly says, “I can’t believe you forgot in such a short time!”

“I’m sorry big sis. I had just found a way to make money and was planning to go home and continue. I didn’t mean to forget.”

Chapter 6 – Profit

Once the guard captain leaves, Regal studiously begins to clean up. The smaller items are easy to tidy, but consume a lot of time, while the large furniture forces him to use his entire body weight to just upright them. If he was a few levels higher and put some points into his strength, this task would be much easier.

In his mind, Regal is going through various methods to earn money. Most of them are not possible for someone who hasn’t graduated school or won’t make a profit so he immediately disregards those. Without being allowed to work, his most viable option is to sell goods.

If his father’s books were still here, they would be worth at least several silver pieces each. After going through the list of things he could possibly sell, he decides to sell his ‘Ice Bullets’. They are low grade bullets that aren’t worth much, but it is still possible to sell them.

Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 4

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis
Author’s notes: There has been some changes to chapter 1 in regards to the Soulless. I wish to change it as they are not completely void of emotions. The Soulless are envisioned to be logical people with much more restrained emotions and the lack of being able to question themselves. In a way, you also could say they have no conscience. What they lack in emotions are the more complicated ones. The feel happy, sad, and angry; but lack feelings of love, empathy, partial humour, and will never know the feeling of not knowing whether to laugh or cry. I have inserted the major change from chapter 1 below the editors notes so you don’t have to re read the entire chapter 1 to find the difference.
The chapter plan for this chapter is now available on my Patreon page. I am currently excitably planning and about to start writing chapter 36 of End Online, among many other things in my to do list. I will update this here when it is available.
Editor’s notes:
The woman frowns upon reading the history of Regal Havier, a hint of scorn in her eyes. What she says isn’t entirely true. While he wasn’t as emotional as anyone else would have been, silent tears fell down his face when his parents left him a farewell note saying they have decided to enter the eternal rest. This was the most emotionally distraught state he had ever been in.

Chapter 4: Talent

On the fourth day of school, there are no practical lessons planned. Regal sits in his usual spot in class, listening and taking notes on what is determined to be common knowledge that everyone should have in this world.

The city of Theore has 47 floors, but not everyone can access all floors. Floors 1 through 9 are referred to as the lower district and are where all the common Immortalis reside. The stores mostly sell low quality goods with a few exceptions where average quality goods become available.

Floors 10 to 39 are called the middle district; well established families live here and have many high leveled members. Most of the larger guilds reside in the middle district in grand mansions that make people envious when seen.

Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 3

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis
Author’s notes: I am excited to bring you a new chapter of Chronicle of the Eternal. We are finally getting into the story and I have explained  most of what needs to be said by this chapter. I’ve tried to space it all out and incorporate it into the story to avoid the situation of an ‘info dump’, so hopefully you will enjoy! ^.^
The chapter plan for this chapter is now posted my Patreon page, visible to everyone who supports me by donating at least $1 a month. The plan is short as these chapters are shorter, but there are plenty of differences between the planned and written as usual. I have also formed a pseudo company relating to my drawings I am now calling Cr@ppy Artworks Inc.

Chapter 3 – Alchemy

When Regal awakens on the morning of the third day of school, the sky in Grand City Theore is much dimmer than usual as water showers down from above. The rain outside the city follows various pipe networks and other crevices, creating a light shower on all the floors of the city.

Outside the city the winds howl, carrying a biting cold rain as lighting snakes down from the sky. The storm is so violent that no one would willingly endure the elements. But, despite knowing when the storm is coming, there are still people every month who inevitably get caught in the tempests and return to Theore with colds and other status afflicting illnesses. Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 2

 Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis
Author’s notes: Now that I have finished writing End Online Volume 5, I will work on writing a few chapters of the CotE to get further into the story. With this chapter, you will find CotE to have similar aspects to xianxia novels as well as litRPG. There is actually one particular aspect of the xianxia novels that heavily inspired me when working on my plan for the story. It is actually something that I tried to incorporate into EO but failed to do so. I have my bets on that none of you will be able to guess what part of xianxia novels that inspired me.
Also, It is a bit long to post here, so I have updated ‘The (Originally) Weekly Update’ with news about future CotE releases.
I am temporarily not posting chapter plans for CotE on my Patreon page as they are usually much shorter than those of End Online and with little variation between the plan and what is written. I am currently working on something new to post there so I will update you when it is ready

Chapter 2: Duel

Regal Havier’s home is a residence as ordinary as they come, consisting of two bedrooms, a single kitchen, small living area and bathroom. It’s a single story structure of brick and maple wood, harvested from the trees in the agricultural sectors several floors above. Bronze architecture decorate the front of the house, much like the rest of the street.

Regal’s parents left the house furnished with the few belongings they owned. Sofa, table, two beds, and a bookshelf. The bookshelf is mostly empty, a few books stacked on it. Books in this world are a valuable commodity as they are hand written. The reason there are so few books on the bookshelf is solely due to their high prices.

Regal’s father, Vincente, was an avid lover of fiction books, reading tales about other worlds or people gifted with the blessing of good fortune. He always wanted to become like the people described in these books, but good fortune never smiled on him so he could only read about those who fortune was exceptional, even if it was only fiction..

Chronicle of the Eternal: Chapter 1

Editors: Templar, Jack Vanatis, genericIntent
Author’s notes: It is the beginning of something new. Hopefully it is also the beginning of something good. I will most likely be out of internet for the next 1 – 3 weeks, so be prepared for a dump of chapters written by the time I return! For now, enjoy, leave your feedback and thoughts on the new story below (I still have internet on my phone so I’m not completely out of touch), and await my return. Mwahahaha *Pulls cap to cover everything below the eyes and hastily back peddles out of room while laughing sinisterly*
The chapter plan for this new story will also be available on my Patreon page for everyone who supports me there – once my internet returns and I have time to post it.

Chapter 1: Theore

The blistering midday sun burns brightly in the sky. A few inky grey clouds hover over the horizon, bringing news of a coming rain across the cracked wasteland.

Several yellow shrubs sway in the hot breeze, excited for the water to come. Sparse vegetation and rocky surfaces extend as far as the towering mountains tens of miles away.

Mutated animals, some as small as rodents and others as large as buildings, wander the land in solitude or in packs. Several people are in combat with these creatures. The smell of gunpowder, and static from charged ions, surrounds them as they discharge their weapons at the monsters. From one person in particular, a vivid blue circular symbol full of complicated patterns and formulae materializes into the air at his command. This symbol activates immediately and emits a hazy mist of ice that slows down the creatures around the man.

Welcome the New Editors!

I would like to thank everyone who trialled for an editor. You all did a fantastic job and left me remarkably impressed. Unfortunately, I couldn’t simply select you all. If I did, we would be following the principle of too many cooks in the kitchen.

The decision was tough, but I believe I made the right one. I would like to welcome two new editors to work with me on the new story, Chronicle of the Eternal. Templar will be the head editor of COTE while Jack Vanatis will work alongside him. I will also try have them help on End Online when they are available to help genericIntent, who is currently working as a one man army.

************************************

I also have a few words from the new editors:

Templar:
Your in for a fun journey!

Jack Vanatis:
Ahem. Editing, like most things in life is a science. In this case, it’s a mad science and if there’s one thing you can trust Jack Vanatis to do, it’s science up something insane and dangerous out of ordinary objects. Like words. Words that are smashed together into a dangerous mashup of universes, quarks, and giant robot. That’s how blueprints work, and not a single person is going to tell me otherwise. With me on the job/s, I promise both effective grammar and correct levels of tense, with the occasional giant robot out of nowhere. Scratch that last one, I’ve just been informed that an editor is not allowed to mess with the plot. Vote Jack Vanatis, 2016.

Alternatively…

Hello, I’m Jack Vanatis. I’m editor number two. Hope you like the story.

Alternatively…

… (silence intensifies)

Thanks for choosing me.

************************************

That will be all for now, so give a big welcome to our two new editors!

I also have a few words myself to say. I am currently all packed up and will be moving house today/tomorrow. The only problem is that I will be without internet for an indefinite amount of time (Maybe between 1 week and 3 weeks)

Still, Chapter 1 of Chronicle of the Eternal should be posted tonight and even without internet, I will keep on writing! ^.^

Update, Announcement, and Recruitment

Being such an important title, I have deemed it to deserve its own post. There are three topics I want to bring up with all the readers.

First of all is an update. It has been over a week since I began as a full time author, yet I still haven’t had the time to fully focus on writing! This is because despite leaving my job, a large job came to me that has had me working Monday – Friday and coming home void of energy.

The weekend gone was my first free time, and with my motivation being above normal, got stuck into writing. Within a 48 hour period, I actually wrote 12,000 words. I will never shut up about such an enormous effort, so feel free to refer to me in the future by my Roman name, Gloatius Maximus! ^.^
